Wednesday :3

Well this Wednesday we were missing our beloved teacher Mr. Long. In his absence we worked on our projects and got a lot of work done. It was a nice work day and everyone seemed happy. I am more than half way done with my project and only need a couple pictures which I will get this weekend.

The Thoughts of Thrursday

Posing Techniques

  • Body Turns
    • When People have a part in their hair, the side with less hair tends to subconsciously be their 'good side'.
    • One eye tends to be smaller, so try to have that eye closer to the camera.
    • If you face the camera straight on it is not flattering.

  • Creating a Base
    • Where your head and hands are placed is important. It should make a triangle between the two hands and the face.

  • Tip and Turn
    • Jut the chin out to create a better jaw line.

  • Composition
    • If you show the knees, then you have to show the feet.

I leaned what key lights are, and the flaps on the light are called barn doors. Also Mr. Long showed us the scrim on the light.

When you use reflectors outside, you want to bounce the light onto peoples face, to make the eyes more intense and beautiful.

Thursday thoughts

OK so I keep forgetting about thursday thoughts, so I am going to combine everything I've learned and thought this month and then start a weekly update after that.

I think my best moment including photography has been when we went into Portland as a group and shot. Joseph had lots of helpful things to say, like that we should try to look for an exciting background when we see a subject we like. And use reflection from windows. Don't make things just a little off, have it extremely straight or extremely off.

We talked a lot about tone values and white balance. I learned how to change the settings for both of those in lightroom. I perfected importing and exporting my pictures and being able to tell where all my pictures are really going.

This class is pretty great and even though I always forget Thursday thoughts I do love the class.
