Thursday Thoughts

This week I looked at peoples projects. I also decided that I really need to bring food for this class. So my petition is to have a Grilled Cheese sandwich day!!! That will be the best day of this year I'm sure :)

Thursday Thoughts

We talked about portraits and posing and lighting. Joseph pointed out that photographers sometimes crop out the top of the head to focus of the eyes more. He also reminded us that we should put the key light at a 45 degree angle from the person.

When taking pictures of people you should try to capture the aura they have to show their best features and qualities. The eyes are almost always the most important part of the picture. This is not true EVERY time, but most.

Wednesday :3

Well this Wednesday we were missing our beloved teacher Mr. Long. In his absence we worked on our projects and got a lot of work done. It was a nice work day and everyone seemed happy. I am more than half way done with my project and only need a couple pictures which I will get this weekend.

The Thoughts of Thrursday

Posing Techniques

  • Body Turns
    • When People have a part in their hair, the side with less hair tends to subconsciously be their 'good side'.
    • One eye tends to be smaller, so try to have that eye closer to the camera.
    • If you face the camera straight on it is not flattering.

  • Creating a Base
    • Where your head and hands are placed is important. It should make a triangle between the two hands and the face.

  • Tip and Turn
    • Jut the chin out to create a better jaw line.

  • Composition
    • If you show the knees, then you have to show the feet.
